Company History
Skegness Springs Ltd is a proud fourth-generation family business with roots dating back to 1923, when it was founded in London. In 1974, Peter Johnson and his family relocated the company to Skegness after a thorough search for the perfect location. This move marked a pivotal moment in our history, as we chose to specialise in the niche market of bespoke spring manufacturing – a decision that aligned with our innovative manufacturing methods and the unique strengths of our workforce.
Today, the Johnson family remains deeply committed to the day-to-day operations of the business. At the helm are David and Ian, who led the company as managing directors and uphold the tradition of quality and excellence.
While our family plays a central role in the business, we truly value and rely on our dedicated staff. Without their hard work and commitment – both past and present – we would not be able to fulfil orders and maintain the high standards we are known for.

David’s side of the family
David’s son, Thomas, has recently joined the business, bringing fresh perspectives and a sharp analytical mind. With a background in accountancy and a teaching career in Hong Kong, Thomas combines his knack for numbers with a patient approach to mastering the intricacies of spring design.
Ian’s side of the family
Simon works in the factory, specialising in large material spring winding. His military background shines through in his disciplined work ethic and relentless pursuit of perfection, ensuring every spring meets the highest standards.
Sarah, with her experience in banking, she oversees customer accounts with meticulous precision. Known for her encyclopaedic knowledge and attention to detail, Sarah is the go-to person in the office for problem-solving and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
Stephen returned to the business after a career at sea as a chief engineer on vessels. His experience in managing complex operations in challenging environments has made him adept at problem-solving and refining processes, ensuring the company continually seeks new ways to evolve and improve.
